The final reviews for the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) Promising Young Writers program for eighth graders are complete. This year, schools across the country nominated 146 students to participate in the Promising Young Writers Program. Three of those nominees came from JMS.
Of those 146 students nationwide, 56 were selected to receive the First Class designation, 58 received the Superior designation, 27 received the Excellent designation, and 5 received the Merit designation.
Congratulations to Julia Antunes and Pamela Yang for receiving First Class designations and to Allie Miller for earning a Superior designation.
These students created well-written pieces that were full of voice and style. We are very proud of the effort they put into their drafts and the revision leading up to their final submissions.
