The Student Council, comprised of an executive board and general student council members, promotes school spirit and plans social events, special projects, and fundraising activities. Within the council, they also take part in activities and events that help to develop their leadership skills. Executive board members are comprised of a select group of eighth graders who apply for a position on the board.
General Student Council is comprised of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who have a desire to get involved and can follow through on their commitment. In addition to attending bi-weekly Monday meetings, general council members also have the opportunity to participate on various committees throughout the year that are project-specific. Our Student Council is fairly large (usually 60 - 80 members) and the philosophy behind this is that, given the opportunity to try Student Council at this level, students will be more comfortable continuing to stay involved at the high school level.
